Umpc doesn’t spell EEE

November 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Once upon a time there where portable computers who was as big as briefcases and it was a privilege to be one of the chosen ones to have one of those, this where the times when operating systems had hyped names as Windows 98 and you could guess that the 98 stood for the year it where released. At that time the company Toshiba had a vision about a small computer that could fit in your pocket and be able to provide with the tools for your basic computer needs. Ok lets fast forward to the present time, a new breed computers has seen the daylight, they are compact and useful for your daily computer needs, the need to communicate and mingle out on the web, Asus woke the monster up with their EEE series but the competition wasn’t so long behind, and today we have a lot of nice alternatives like the Acer Aspire One (who i think is nice to look at and have a nice feeling while working on it)

aspierone

Ok had really wished for a 3G solution that was inside instead of the dongle that almost always is in the way(ok I’m a bit spoiled since the test of the Sony Vaio Z11 wish i just placed my simcard inside and voila i where totally mobile)

sony-vaio-z11

another irritating thing right now is the lack of profiling of the 3G / Pc solutions that we have today, when you buy a mobile phone today its almost impossible to get one that isnt bundled with an phone operator whit their links, logos and other fun thing. Why not do that on the Laptop product that are delivered with the 3G bundle ? Lack of fantasy? Even i got my tailored solution on my Car-Pc and home media projects…..

Just sitting watching the unpacking video of the CS series from Sony (Thanks Sony UK & Immediate Future for the movie) and it will be a lovely x-mas this year, even if the presents in Santa’s sled might miss the EEE mark

EEE-Pc X-mas gift of the year?

November 5th, 2008 · No Comments

Its soon Christmas and the computer business is trying to see what would most likely to be the gift of the year, and i think Asus is on the right track for that. They are adjusting the price of the 900 series to make sure it will be a candidate for the statement above, and with a price around 2500 skr (2595 to be precise) it will be in the mind of a lot of Christmas shoppers, a lot of fun in a small box summons it i think

Vaio Z11 Razor-sharp Lightweight

October 27th, 2008 · No Comments

Its not often you stumble over a laptop that includes both an ultraportable capacity as well as performance as an big desktop/tower machine, but that’s just what you will find in this convenient package of fun .

sony-vaio-z11

It was quite nice to compare my big tower machine with this, because of the 1.2 kg compared to the big concrete like design as the tower machine is like compare an feather with an freight train.

sony_vaio_z112

Its nice to se the development of the laptop market from being just a convenient backup machine to the full function equipment that it has become today.

Take a look!

Sony-Ericsson X1 hit or miss?

October 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

The Sony Ericsson X1 didn’t cause as much excitement as the launch of the apple Iphone this summer, and why should it?Ok its an Windows Mobile based phone with the 6.1 version of the software and the functions are quite similar as the ones at the HTC Touch models (and it was a bit of collaboration there I think) but it came out to late, and the phones that went out to the retailers where a bit,,, slow for being a competitive business phone .

x1

Its quite sad, I’ve always liked the phones from SonyEricsson and I’m using the P1i model still, but my next phone might be a HTC or something like that, a different mark for the first time in many years for me….

www.sony.co.uk/rolly

The rolly pages at Sony UK is quite fun, i got quite found of this little gadget when i tested it (and so was a lot of other people) so now in lack of having one i can redirect you to the site instead :-)

sony_rolly_2

Had some days with the Vaio Z11 now, and I’m still quite content, even if i first got a little irritated on the keyboard (didn’t like the design) but now im quite used to it so the complaints muted.

Sony VAIO Z11

another thing that is quite hard to get used to is the mouse pad its a little to close to the edge, but that’s another thing to get used to i think :-)

New mac:s rising

October 20th, 2008 · No Comments

A new line of MacBook’s has been presented the last week, and for what it looks like it will be as good as they use to be. Apple has always been great with the design, and even the mainline laptops feels quite sophisticated and special.

The aluminium chassis is quite a eye catcher and the functionality is as always flawless.

1425346181

Initial reports on the new macbook series tells us that its limited to 4gb internal memory, but after looking a bit deeper into the spec’s it might be possible to go up to even 8gb, and that is a lot better than the Vista limits on just 3gb (ok some delivers their vista machines with 4 gb but its just possible to use 3gb on the pc so….)

This machine with the SnowLeopard opsys will be a nice gadget in the IT universe in a near future

Sony Noiseless

October 19th, 2008 · No Comments

Two weeks really goes fast when you are having fun, and that’s a good summarize of the test of the Sony Noiseless Headphones, fun amusing and really quite nice.

Or as my 17 year old son says  “– They are worth every penny/euro/krona “ and I can just agree to that. From the moment I unpacked them to the sad moment when I packed them up again I just loved the quality of the sound and I felt honoured to be able to really test great equipment like this.I also had a lot of god use of them at work, because I have an Motorcycle injury that makes it difficult for me to concentrate when its noisy around med but with these I really could concentrate, so one day (I hope) I will invest in a pair of these but not right now ..

DSCF0334

To enjoy a book at the same time as lovely music caress your ears is easy with these.

DSCF0335

Digital joy.

DSCF0339

Music can come from lots of sources, some for enjoyment, and some to be filtered out (like riffs on a 17 y:o boys guitar)

DSCF0340

And they work with other great Sony (SonyEricsson) products with the same great result

DSCF0341

So with a tear in the corner of my eye and a hope to see the likes of the again it was packing time?

DSCF0342

And now they are waiting for the UPS service

Lets Go Green?

October 17th, 2008 · No Comments

How would it be to be able to act a little more Green when yuo using your laptop, we have all seen the commercials for the mobile phone chargers that uses solar panels to give your phone just that little extra energy without using anything else than the sun.

And our conscious would get a real boost out of that or what do you think?

38_2

This beauty above can provide with an output of 12-15v 6-10W and its so small it fits in your bag , and if you use a little bigger version it should be able to give you the energy (for your laptop) that you need on the beach

Or:

  • Your Cabin
  • Mobile Home
  • Ski trip
  • Car
  • Boat
  • Home

Its only our imagination that sets the limits for the use.

Wednesday and im in LOVE

October 15th, 2008 · No Comments

I’m almost speechless, got my greedy hands on the Sony VAIO VGN-Z11WN laptop, and im stunned. Its kicks my Stationary Puter back to the stone age , with a System Index at 4.4 its as fast as my former Game machine. So now its for me to put in my 3G simcard (the one from T-Mobile  in the UK wouldn’t be good here in Sweden) and test it in the environments where i perform my blogging , you know at the cafe’s on the train and on the movie sets.

sony_vaio_CR_Series

Don’t be fooled when you look at the compact size of this, its really an full-grown machine for everything from work to just pure fun.

The design is flawless, it feels like a piece of candy, light functional and just perfect, the display feels so thin when you open it, but when you do you are presented with graphics that really takes your breath away. On top of that its an webcam (and how they got that in there is a mystery) so its just to connect with your Mobile broadband provider, start MSN or skype and chat with sound vision and delight
